Getting Your Toilet Fixed
What toilet problems do you handle?
Running toilets, leaks at the base or tank, clogs, weak or incomplete flushes, slow-filling tanks, rocking toilets and broken flanges, toilet replacement and installation, and commercial restroom toilets. See all toilet repair services.
Do you work on commercial restrooms?
Yes — offices, shops, restaurants and multi-unit buildings, including flushometer and sensor-operated toilets. See commercial toilet repair.
Will I know the price before work starts?
You should, every time. Before any work begins, ask what’s wrong, what will be replaced and the total price. Nothing should start until you agree.
What should I have ready when I call?
Your address, what the toilet is doing, when it started, whether water is on the floor, and whether other drains are slow.
Costs and Decisions
How much does toilet repair cost?
It depends on the problem, the parts needed, whether the toilet must be removed, and timing. A flapper replacement is very different from a flange repair. Ask for a quote before work starts.
Is it cheaper to repair or replace a toilet?
Repairing a worn part or seal is usually less expensive. Replacement makes sense when porcelain is cracked, problems keep recurring, or you want a more efficient toilet.
What should I ask before approving work?
Ask what’s wrong, what will be replaced, the total price, whether there’s a warranty, and how long the work will take.
Emergencies and Safety
How do I shut off water to a toilet?
Turn the valve on the wall or floor behind the toilet (the angle stop) clockwise until it stops. If it won’t turn or still leaks, use the home’s main shut-off.
Should I use chemical drain cleaner on a clogged toilet?
It’s not recommended. Chemical cleaners rarely clear toilet clogs and create a hazard for whoever works on the toilet next. Use a flange plunger, or call for help.
Is a toilet leak an emergency?
A steady leak, overflow, or water reaching a room or unit below should be handled right away. A slow drip is less urgent but can still damage floors over time.
Whittier and California
Which Whittier areas do you serve?
Uptown Whittier, East Whittier, South Whittier, West Whittier, Whittwood, Michigan Park, The Quad, Friendly Hills, Valla — ZIP codes 90601, 90602, 90603, 90604, 90605, 90606, 90607, 90608, 90609, 90610.
What are California’s toilet water-use rules?
New toilets sold in California must generally use no more than 1.28 gallons per flush. Under SB 407, homes built on or before January 1, 1994 are expected to have water-conserving fixtures, and toilets using more than 1.6 gallons per flush are considered noncompliant.
Who provides water service in Whittier?
Depending on your address, water may be supplied by the City of Whittier Water Department, Suburban Water Systems, or San Gabriel Valley Water Company. A running toilet can noticeably raise your bill.
How can I check a plumber’s license in California?
Use the license lookup on the Contractors State License Board website.
